A Bolt-On flange can break due to improper removal, application, or storage of the gate and gate posts. If the flange breaks, you may see damage shown in one of two ways; broken or sheared screw(s) or a broken flange tab.
SOLUTIONS
Broken or Sheared Screws
Drill new holes and re-attach the flange to your gate post.
Take your existing flange and drill two new holes on opposite sides from the original holes (see photo below). Drill through the flange with a 3/16 inch drill bit so that the new screw thread passes through without binding. Use the new holes as a guide and mark the new hole location on the gate post. Pre-drill the new holes on the gate post with a 5/32 inch hole. Use a D&D screw to fasten each new hole of the bolt-on flange to the gate post.
