Is a Pool Net Safe for My Pet?

Whether you’re a new pool owner or are looking to improve your pool safety practices with your existing backyard pool, you’ve come to the right place. A common question that we’re asked at All-Safe is if pool nets are a good option for families with animals. While many dog breeds are great swimmers, that’s not the case universally. With this in mind, it’s smart to take extra precaution to protect your family.

There are a few things to consider when answering the above question, so read on to find out more about pool nets with pets!

Benefits of a Pool Net

We certainly believe that something is better than nothing when it comes to pool safety, and All-Safe pool nets do have a number of safety benefits to protect your pets and loved ones. Most important on the list of safety requirements, the nets themselves have 3.5 inch openings, which make it impossible for your pet to fall through. If you’re thinking of purchasing a pool net, you can have peace of mind knowing that you’re protecting your pets and children from the unthinkable. In addition, here are a few other perks to buying a pool net:

Cost

A pool net is a very low cost solution for pool safety. It will vary depending on your pool layout, but the estimate you’re given by your local reseller will include materials and installation.

Easy to Use

All-Safe pool nets can be applied or removed in about 15 minutes, making it a convenient safety option for people that use their pool frequently. All-Safe also has created exclusive tools that help to easily achieve optimal tension once the net is installed.

Strength

For over 25 years, All-Safe pool nets have had a perfect safety record. Our pool nets are tested to hold up to 485lbs. Although they’re very lightweight, once installed properly they can handle quite a bit of force.

Risks of Buying a Pool Net with a Pet

As with many situations, while there are great benefits to purchasing a pool net if you’re a pet owner, this could potentially be a risky decision. There certainly aren’t near as many setbacks as there are benefits, but it’s best to understand both the good and bad before you make a final decision.

Because the pool nets have 3.5 inch openings, there is a risk that your pet, whether big or small, can fall through and get stuck in the net. While the pool net ultimately will protect from drowning, it does not protect from injury. The likelihood of this actually happening is very slim; In fact, we’re happy to say that we have had 0 injuries reported, but the risk is indeed present.

If you own a dog whose breed is prone to chewing, you could also risk your pet routinely chewing on the pool net if they’re left outside unsupervised. Over time, this could decrease the effectiveness of the safety net itself. This is another uncommon issue, but worth considering if you own a pet who displays an issue with chewing.

Ultimate Safety Option

If you’re thinking of buying a pool net and you own a pet, you can see that the pros do outweigh the cons. Pool safety nets are a reliable product to consider in protecting your family without breaking the bank. Our highest rated, most secure safety option would be a pool fence, but pool fences start at a higher price point and don’t have the same benefits that a pool net does.

Color Variations

Colors on your screen or brochure may not match the actual color of your product.

Due to the many variations in monitors, phones, and browsers, color samples and product examples may appear different on different screens. Computers and mobile devices are not all calibrated equally and color reproduction on the Internet is not precise. The same is true for printed items such as brochures and other sales literature.

In addition, the colors of our products photograph differently under different lighting conditions. For example, photos taken in full sunlight will vary from photos taken on a cloudy or overcast day. Similarly, shadows from nearby objects can affect the color and transparency of our products. If a precise color or specific shade is important, please inspect the actual color of your product prior to installation.

Colors will vary from batch to batch.

Many of our products’ materials are not available through typical stores and vendors and therefore must be custom manufactured specifically for our use. In order to control costs and provide you with the best value possible, our raw materials are produced in large batches and can often take several months to receive. The colors of our materials can, and often do, vary slightly from batch to batch. Although we make every effort to minimize color variations, we cannot be responsible for these differences when they occur. If a precise color or specific shade is important, please inspect the actual color of your product prior to installation.

Color names are subjective and may not be what you think the color should be.

For example, we use the name “putty” to describe some of our products. Your idea of the color “putty” may be different than someone else’s idea of “putty”. In addition, products may have the same color name but may not be the exact same color. For example, we have different shades of “black”. Please do not order using color names as your only guide. If a precise color or specific shade is important, please inspect the actual color of your product prior to installation.

Inspect the actual color of your product prior to installation.

If it is important that your product be an exact color or shade, it is highly recommended that you inspect the actual product prior to its installation and address any concerns with your local independent installer. Most independent installers do not offer refunds or accept returns due to color variations.
