The D&D MagnaLatch® ALERT combines the proven MagnaLatch Series 3 Top Pull safety latch with an integrated audible and visual gate alarm. It is designed to notify you when the gate has been opened or has not fully latched, providing an additional layer of awareness around pools and other child-safety areas.
When the gate is opened, the ALERT sounds an acknowledgement beep. If the gate remains unlatched, additional warnings follow, and after approximately 15 seconds, the full audible alarm sounds while the LED lights flash. Closing and fully latching the gate resets and silences the alarm.
The alarm reaches approximately 91 dB at the source and 70 dB from 10 feet away. Its accelerating alarm and flashing LEDs are intended to help alert nearby adults that the gate is not secured. Actual audibility inside a home will depend on distance, walls, windows, background noise, and the installation location.
The ALERT is a local gate alarm. It does not connect to Wi-Fi, a smartphone, or a remote alarm panel.
The magnetic latching mechanism engages when the gate closes and includes a visible Locked/Unlocked indicator. The six-pin lock cylinder can be rekeyed by a locksmith to match a compatible household door key.
The latch is vertically and horizontally adjustable, allowing it to be realigned if the gate shifts or sags over time.
The alarm operates on an included ER14250 1/2 AA 3.6V lithium battery, so no electrical wiring or electrician is required. A downward “ramp-down” chirp each time the gate is opened indicates that the battery is running low and should be replaced.
The magnetic latch will continue to function mechanically if the battery becomes depleted, but the audible and visual alarm features will not operate.
The standard MagnaLatch ALERT is intended for square gate frames and posts measuring at least 1 inch wide. It is compatible with most aluminum, steel, wood, and vinyl gates, with an ideal gate-to-post gap of approximately 3/4 inch. A compatible adapter kit is required for supported round-post installations and is sold separately.
The ALERT secures the gate after it closes, but it does not make the gate self-closing. Properly installed and adjusted self-closing hinges are required separately.
The MagnaLatch ALERT is IP55 rated for outdoor use. Keep the latch clean and free of debris, and do not clean it with a pressure washer or harsh chemicals.
The mechanical MagnaLatch is covered by D&D’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. The electronic ALERT alarm unit has a two-year limited warranty; the battery is not covered.
The MagnaLatch ALERT is an additional safety feature and is not a substitute for adult supervision. Always confirm applicable local pool-barrier requirements before installation.
The alarm has a peak sound level of approximately 91 dB at the source and approximately 70 dB from 10 feet away. It is designed to alert people nearby, but how well it can be heard inside a home will depend on distance, walls, closed windows, and surrounding noise. It does not send alerts to a phone or indoor receiver.
The MagnaLatch ALERT provides both visual and audible indications when the gate is unlatched, allowing you to quickly identify that the pool gate is not secured.
The alarm includes an optional temporary disarm feature for situations when the gate must remain open. Once enabled, the alarm can be disarmed for up to 15 minutes while the gate remains open. Closing and latching the gate immediately reactivates the alarm.
D&D warns that the disarm feature should not be used on a pool or spa gate. It is deactivated at the factory and cannot be permanently reprogrammed. Closing and fully latching the gate is the normal way to silence and reset an active alarm.
No. The latch engages after the gate closes but does not pull the gate closed. Your gate must have properly installed and adjusted self-closing hinges, sold separately.
The ALERT is designed as an easy upgrade for many existing MagnaLatch Series 2 and Series 3 Top Pull installations. Compatibility depends on the existing mounting arrangement, gate posts, and gate gap, so compare the ALERT installation requirements before ordering.
No. The alarm is battery-powered, and a long-life lithium battery is included. No electrical wiring or electrician is required.
A normal acknowledgement beep when the gate is opened indicates that the alarm is active. During initial setup or after replacing the battery, open and close the gate five times to calibrate and test the system.
A distinctive downward or “ramp-down” chirp each time the gate opens means the battery is running low and needs to be replaced.
It uses one ER14250 1/2 AA 3.6V lithium battery. The battery is included. This is a specialized 3.6V lithium battery and should not be replaced with a standard 1.5V AA or AAA battery.
Yes. The mechanical magnetic latch will continue to secure the gate without battery power. However, the audible alarm and flashing LED warning will not operate until the battery is replaced.
The standard MagnaLatch ALERT is designed for square-post applications. A compatible round-post adapter kit is required for supported round-post installations and is sold separately (not available from All-Safe).
The ALERT is IP55 rated for outdoor use and resistance to normal weather exposure. It should be installed and maintained according to D&D’s instructions, including keeping drainage areas clear.
