Most homeowners pay $2,000 to $3,500 to have a removable mesh pool fence professionally installed, or $800 to $1,700 in materials to install one themselves.
About 63 ft of 4-ft Classic Black fence (four 15-ft sections) with one self-closing gate, on a concrete deck. A simple layout on concrete usually lands at the low end of the range, and your local installer may quote less.
Fence length sets the base price. After that, your deck surface and how complicated the layout is decide where you land. A straight run, or a loop around the pool, on a concrete deck is the simplest install.
Every height, pole type, color and gate option is laid out on our pool fence components page.
A professional installer prices these after seeing your yard. That's what the free quote is for. Doing it yourself? The Pool Fence product page shows the exact price for your height, pole and color.

An All-Safe fence is built to look clean around your pool and hold up for years, with more choices and more support behind it.
Shopping around? Compare section length, pole material and what's included, not just the price per foot, and check that the gate self-closes, self-latches and can be locked. Want to dig into quality? Ask whether the fence has been tested to ASTM F2286, the standard for removable mesh pool fences. Not every fence has been; All-Safe's has. For what that means where you live, see our Code & Compliance guide.
Around a pool, the real alternatives to removable mesh are permanent metal fencing (wrought iron or aluminum) and glass. Glass costs several times more. Metal falls in a similar per-foot range once installed, but it stays up for good. Only mesh comes down when the pool isn't in use, or can be installed yourself in a weekend.
| Fence type | Installed cost per foot (fence only) | Removable? | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Removable mesh (All-Safe) | About $19–$25 installed; about $7.40 in DIY materials | Yes | See-through; comes down in minutes; self-closing gate available |
| Metal (wrought iron or aluminum) | $15–$40 | No | Permanent; picket spacing must meet barrier code |
| Glass | $95–$210, more for frameless | No | Clear view; permanent; highest cost |
Gates are extra on every type. Metal and glass figures are national ranges from Fixr (updated January 2025) and Angi (updated July 2026). Local prices vary.
DIY materials run about $7–$12 per foot for the fence itself (a 15-ft section is $99 to $185 depending on height and pole type). Professional installation typically runs about $19–$25 per foot for the fence on a concrete deck, with gates priced separately; grass or dirt, steps and turns add to that. It varies by area and installer, which is why most quote the whole job. Make sure any per-foot quote you compare includes the gate.
For DIY, 5-ft fence adds roughly $30–$55 per section and about $45 for the gate. Whether you need 4 ft or 5 ft depends on your local barrier code, so check with your inspector or agency before ordering.
For DIY, no: fence is sold by the 15-ft section, and the self-closing gate kit is $299 (4 ft) or $343.50 (5 ft). Most layouts use one. A professional installation quote should include your gate; if it doesn't, ask.
Labor is built into the installed quote rather than itemized. On a typical 63-ft fence with one gate, the gap between DIY materials (about $765) and a professional installation ($1,950–$2,450) covers labor, layout, drilling, tools, travel and the installer's labor warranty.
Yes. The poles go into PVC sleeves set in poured concrete footings, which adds a little time and a few dollars per post.
Installed, it costs about the same per foot as a permanent metal fence and far less than glass. Where it saves money is the DIY route: about $7.40 per foot in materials. It's also the only one you can take down when the pool isn't in use.
Store prices are reviewed each year. The date at the top of this page tells you when they were last checked, and the Pool Fence product page always shows the current price.
